E10 Petrol Fuel Change

During the summer 2021, the standard petrol grade in Great Britain will change from E5 to E10. The change applies to petrol only, diesel will not change.

Almost all petrol-powered vehicles on the road today (95%) can use E10 petrol and all cars built since 2011 are compatible.

If your vehicle is not compatible with E10 fuel, you can use the 'super' grade (97+ octane) petrol from most stations which is E5. Petrol pumps across the country will be clearly labeled as either E10 or E5.

What is E10 petrol?

E10 petrol contains up to 10% renewable ethanol, which will help to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions associated with petrol vehicles and tackle climate change. The previous standard grade of petrol in the UK, E5, only contains 5% renewable ethanol.
