"When you look at the amount of Qashqais on the road, the new one has large boots to fill," said Alan Kidd, Editor of 4x4 Magazine. And we have to say, Nissan has done it. They didn't need to reinvent the wheel, but they did keep everything that was excellent about the previous one and updated it.
"It looks quite cool from the outside, but where you really notice the difference is within the cabin." It's highly modern, incredibly utilitarian, and convincingly sumptuous on higher-spec vehicles.
"A special note should also be made of the infotainment system. The media display is excellent, and the camera-based parking system is among the best we've seen at any price. This is perhaps more important to people who buy SUVs than the way it drives – though Nissan has nailed that as well. It will continue the Qashqai tradition of being a sales monster."
The 2019 Qashqai is available with a sophisticated all-wheel drive system that constantly checks available traction and will transmit power to the rear wheels in a split second when it senses a loss of grip from the front wheels for the most sure-footed drive in any situations.
Drivers can also choose the best driving mode for the conditions or their preferences, with options such as snow, off-road, sport, eco, and standard.
AWD variants of the all-new Qashqai are powered by the revised DiG-T 158 mild hybrid engine, linked to a refined Xtronic transmission, and are available in grades ranging from N-Connecta to Tekna+.
"We are very proud of the third-generation Qashqai's continuous success in these major industry honours," said Andrew Humberstone, Managing Director, Nissan Motor (GB) Ltd. This award from 4x4 Magazine not only reinforces the Qashqai's status as the definitive crossover, but it also emphasises the model's adaptability and capability, as well as its appropriateness to a wide spectrum of customers."
The all-new Qashqai is not only one of the safest cars in its class, having received the top five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, but it has also been named 'Best in Class' in the 'Small Off-Road' category by the same organisation.
The award was conferred on the basis of overall Adult Occupant, Child Occupant, Pedestrian, and Safety Assist scores, with the weighted sum of those ratings determining Qashqai as Best in Class winner.
