New Nissan LEAF awarded maximum 5-star NCAP safety rating

This month, the European New Car Assessment Programme awarded the all-new LEAF with the maximum 5-star safety rating under the new stringent 2018 rules. To see the full test results, click here.

The all-new LEAF was the first car to step up to the plate and be assessed against Euro NCAP's new, strict and improved set of tests and protocols for 2018. 2018 has seen the introduction of new tests that take into account modern day crash scenarios involving cars, pedestrians and cyclists.

The latest version of the worlds best selling electric vehicle earned a 93 per cent rating for adult safety and an 86 per cent rating for child protection. The safety rating is determined from a series of vehicle tests that, in a simplified way, reflect important real-life accident scenarios that could result in injuries.

The new car is jam packed with new advanced safety shield technology such as lane intervention warnings, advanced city braking, blind spot monitoring and parking camera's, all working together as your sixth sense, helping to award the car its new 5-star safety rating. Technologies such as camera and radar feature extensively to provide benefits such a pedestrian recognition and form the basis of Nissan’s acclaimed ProPILOT system for safer, more confident driving.
