Nissan to renew full SUV line-up in next 18 months

Starting with the X-Trail, Nissan have committed to replacing their entire SUV range with-in the next 18 months. Nissan has also promised that a new EV SUV is on the way with-in the same time frame, as previewed by the new Ariya Concept, European Chief, Gianluca de Ficchy told claimed in an interview.

The all-new Juke, the first edition to the updated range, was released last month, replacing the hugely popular first-generation Juke that sold over a million units during its 9-year run. Nissan dropped the diesel powertrain in the latest Juke, following a decline in demand for deiseal powertrains.

De Ficchy gave no further details of subsequent model-launch timings, but a source close to the company said the next model to be replaced will be the X-trail within the next six months.

The next-generation Qashqai is set to be unveiled in September of 2020, with diesel powertrains also expected to be replaced with E-power hybrid technology that’s proven successful so far.

Both the next-gen Qashqai and X-Trail are expected to share the same plug-in hybrid system available on their alliance partner Mitsubishi’s new Outlander model. As for the new upcoming EV SUV, Nissan have suggested that we can expect to see it from November 2020 or early 2021 at the latest.

With the addition of these four new upcoming models, Nissan will then feature one of the youngest passenger car line-ups of any brand in Europe.

The next-generation Nissan Juke is now available to view, test-drive and order from us at Norton Way.
