The Royals pay a visit to Nissan's Sunderland plant

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrate with Sunderland

Kate and will have officially crossed the brand new Northern Spire Bridge in Sunderland as they were driven over in a locally made 100% electric new Nissan LEAF!

The pair were on a visit to Sunderland to check out the up and coming arts scene and to see the cities engineering talent being show cased.

The bridge was built over the River Wear which is hoped to bring major economic and regeneration benefits to the city.

The new LEAF is built at the Sunderland based Nissan plant, just a stone's throw away from the bridge itself. Since being opened in 1986, the plant has also produced the new Qashqai, Juke, Infinity Q30 and QX30.
