AutoExpress have reported at the potential of a new model to the current Peugeot range – 4008 Coupe-SUV. 2020 has been penciled in for the release of the new model, which will be the 4th variant in Peugeot SUV range. The sportier and sleek fourth model will offer a more coupe-like design and will be positioned to take on models such as the Toyota C-HR.
Expected features will include a curvier exterior, with a sloping roofline and reduced side glass area. A number of unique details will likely be included, such as blade-shaped LED running lights, an aggressive grille and distinctive single-piece light bar at the rear.
Peugeot CEO Jean-Phillipe Imparato was recently interview by AutoExpress: “Remember when we said two years ago we would launch five new SUVs in the coming two years? We did it: three in Europe and two more in China,” he told us. “It’s time to come back to our DNA, and then we will maintain the growth of our SUV range in the future because the market is strong.”
The 4008 will be likely offered in full-five seat form, on PSA’s latest EMP2 modular platform. However, engineers are aiming to make a more engaging drive with a unique suspension set-up. Engines are likely to consist of a three-cylinder PureTech petrol engine, two BlueHDi variants, 1.6-litre THP engine from the DS 7 crossover will transfer over with two plug-in hybrid options – one potentially offering up to 300bhp.
