The all-new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV has hauled in a “best in class” win at the 2018 Tow Car Awards.
The all-new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV 2.0 BlueHDi EAT8 S&S GT was selected as number one in the 1550-1699kg category by expert judges from Practical Caravan, What Car?, and Camping & Caravanning.
The seven-seat SUV was praised for its comfort, stability, pulling power – and bold styling – by the panel who tested 44 cars across four key areas: towing, everyday driving, practicality and ownership.
Each car was tested by towing a caravan ballasted to 85% of the car's kerb-weight, or the legal towing limit if that figure is lower. The 5008 SUV performed well in tests including a hill start on a one-in-six slope, an emergency lane change and towing at up to 70mph using GPS technology to judge stability.
Ride comfort, handling prowess, refinement and passenger space were also assessed by expert road testers while seasoned caravanners assessed the boot space and the fitment of towing-friendly features such as a trailer stability system and rear-view camera.
Safety, reliability, running costs and value for money were also considered as part of the Tow Car Awards with the all-new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV winning the 1550-1699kg category.
The all-new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV features the innovative i-Cockpit® and advanced driver assistance systems. It also includes a raft of practical features such as sockets, hooks, blinds and intelligent storage space, which offer functionality and versatility. Additionally, its outstanding modularity allows legroom to be maximised and an impressive load space of 952 litres.
David Motton, Tow Car Editor, Practical Caravan, said: “All our judges were hugely impressed with the all-new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV. It was exemplary in our lane-change test and stable at speed, too.
“The all-new 5008 SUV rides comfortably, both with and without a caravan hitched up, and the engine is refined and smooth. Inside, the PEUGEOT is a very practical seven-seater – ideal for family touring holidays.
“What's more, the 5008 SUV is refreshingly bold and stylish. That may not have clinched the PEUGEOT's class win, but it certainly didn't hurt!”
David Peel, Managing Director at PEUGEOT UK, said: “We’re delighted to scoop a prize at the Tow Car Awards in such a competitive sector. The all-new 5008 SUV offers a new perspective on volume, a sophisticated style and an agile driving experience and we’d like to thank the judges for the award.”
Over 4,000 all-new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV’s have been sold in the UK since the launch in October 2017.
