Peugeot has launched its innovative new self-charging hybrid powertrain, debuting in the 3008 and 5008 SUV models before expanding across Peugeot's vehicle range.
The Hybrid 136 e-DSC6 powertrain utilizes 48V technology paired with an upgraded 1.2-liter PureTech gasoline engine and new six-speed electrified dual-clutch transmission, alongside an 898Wh battery.
This advanced hybrid system achieves a 15% improvement in fuel efficiency per WLTP standards, along with reduced CO2 emissions. The PureTech engine has been engineered with variable geometry turbocharging and Miller cycle operation, broadening performance capabilities. It can generate 136 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque.
The e-DSC6 transmission features a compact electric dual-clutch transmission with six forward gears working with electric motor capable of producing 16kW peak power and 51Nm of torque. During deceleration, the engine functions as a generator to recharge the 48V battery while also providing primary starting assistance via the belt-starter.
With 898Wh total capacity and 432Wh available, the 48V lithium-ion battery employs liquid cooling for maximal efficiency by minimizing heat loss. Cleverly positioned beneath the front left seat, cabin space and cargo capacity remain uncompromised.
Peugeot vehicles equipped with the Hybrid 136 e-DSC6 also include an updated digital instrument panel indicating electric-only driving mode, energy flow and the battery level
The award-winning Peugeot i-Cockpit in the 3008 and 5008 provides the latest tech and safety features, including optional Night Vision, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Blind Spot Detection (standard from Allure Premium+ upwards).
The Peugeot 3008 and 5008 SUVs are now available to order online or through Peugeot retailers. Peugeot's Buy Online program allows fully online configuration, pricing, financing, trade-in valuation, and home delivery, offering a convenient purchasing experience.
The 3008 Hybrid starts from £34,130, while the 5008 Hybrid pricing begins at £38,095.
