MG continues to strengthen its position as one of the UK's fastest-growing automotive brands, combining record-breaking sales performance with an exciting preview of its future electrified model range at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Following its strongest-ever start to a year in the UK, MG is using Goodwood to showcase the innovation, technology and electrification that are driving the brand's continued success.
Record sales driven by electrified vehicles
According to the latest SMMT figures, MG recorded 38,346 UK registrations during the first five months of 2026, representing year-on-year growth of 9.4% and increasing its market share to 4.15%. The performance also saw MG climb to eighth place among the UK's best-selling automotive brands.
Electrified vehicles continue to be the catalyst behind this success, accounting for more than 90% of MG's total sales. Plug-in hybrid registrations more than doubled compared with the same period last year, while battery electric vehicle sales also recorded significant growth as increasing numbers of motorists make the transition towards lower-emission driving.
Fleet demand has also continued to strengthen, with business sales increasing by 10% year-to-date. Premium electric models such as the MG IM5 and MG IM6 have proved particularly popular with fleet operators, thanks to their long driving range, rapid charging capability and advanced technology.
Looking ahead at Goodwood
Building on this momentum, MG returns to the Goodwood Festival of Speed with one of its most ambitious displays to date, showcasing both its current electrified range and a glimpse of future products.
Taking centre stage are two all-new concept cars making their global debut. One previews a future B-segment electric hatchback scheduled to join the MG line-up in 2027, while the second presents an aspirational electric design concept that demonstrates the brand's future design direction.
Alongside these world premieres, visitors will be able to explore MG's latest plug-in hybrid, hybrid and electric models, including the all-new MGS9 PHEV seven-seat SUV, MG4 EV Urban, MGS6 EV, MG ZS Hybrid+, MG HS PHEV, premium MG IM5 and the award-winning MG Cyberster.
The MG stand will also feature interactive robotics demonstrations throughout the event, highlighting the brand's continued investment in advanced technology and innovation.
Several models will also tackle the famous Goodwood hill climb, demonstrating the performance capabilities of MG's latest electrified vehicles in front of thousands of spectators.
Fleet Insight
MG's continued sales growth reflects increasing confidence in its expanding electrified portfolio from both retail and fleet customers. With more than 90% of sales now coming from hybrid and electric vehicles, the brand is well positioned to support organisations transitioning to lower-emission fleets. The addition of new models such as the MGS9 PHEV, alongside premium offerings including the MG IM5 and IM6, provides businesses with an increasingly comprehensive range of vehicles that combine competitive whole-life costs, generous specification and advanced technology. MG's continued investment in innovation, showcased at Goodwood, reinforces its long-term commitment to accessible electrification and future mobility solutions.
