Honda's WN7 wins the Gold Award at iF Design Award 2026
Honda has revealed that its new Honda WN7 electric motorcycle has received the Gold Award, the highest honour in the Product Design category, at the globally respected iF DESIGN AWARD. The recognition marks the first time a Honda product has secured the prestigious award, highlighting the company’s innovation in electric motorcycle design.
First electric naked bike in the FUN category
The Honda WN7 is the brand’s first electric naked bike in the FUN category and was developed under the concept “Be the Wind.” The model represents an important step in Honda’s carbon-neutral initiative while delivering an engaging electric motorcycle riding experience.
A key engineering highlight is the frameless structure, where the battery case serves as the main body frame. This design enables a lightweight electric motorcycle construction and provides greater layout flexibility. The Honda WN7 produces a maximum output of 50 kW, equivalent to a 600cc internal combustion engine motorcycle, and delivers peak torque of 100 Nm, comparable to a 1000cc-class ICE bike. These specifications ensure strong yet smooth performance for both urban commuting and open-road cruising.
The design focuses on refining functionality while capturing the essence of motorcycle styling. The bodywork features seamless, smooth surfaces where the rider interacts with the bike, combined with a bold and distinctive silhouette. The signature headlight incorporates a striking horizontal bar design, while the color scheme uses a black-based body complemented by gold-accented components for a premium finish.
According to the iF Gold Award jury, the Honda WN7 successfully blends classic motorcycle DNA with a confident electric identity. The design respects Honda’s heritage while embracing modern clean-energy aesthetics, resulting in an authentic and cohesive look that stands out in the electric motorcycle segment.
Toshinobu Minami, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Design Center at Honda R&D Co., Ltd., said the company is extremely honoured to receive the Gold Award. He noted that the recognition reflects the jury’s appreciation of the new value created in the era of electrification, the joy of riding freely like the wind, from both functional and design perspectives. He added that Honda will continue creating new values that surprise and inspire people while expanding their life’s potential.
