Škoda strengthens UK position amid record global performance

Latest Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) data shows Škoda maintaining a strong and consistent presence within the UK new car market, with steady registration volumes and a solid market share position among volume manufacturers. The brand continues to perform well across both retail and fleet channels, supported by a broad model range and increasing demand for electrified vehicles, aligning with wider UK market trends.

This stable UK performance sits alongside a record-breaking year globally for Škoda, underlining the strength of its overall business model and growth trajectory.

“An outstanding car.” Enyaq and Elroq win top honours at Fleet News Awards

Škoda has added to its growing list of accolades, with its popular electric models, the Elroq and Enyaq, taking top prizes at the annual Fleet News Awards. Both vehicles emerged as clear winners in two of the industry’s most competitive categories, outperforming a mix of electric and internal combustion rivals.

The Elroq led the way, securing the title of Best Compact SUV. Judges highlighted its impressive all-round performance, citing low running costs, strong practicality, and excellent value for money. Fleet News editor Stephen Briers commented: “The Elroq is the runaway winner in this category—it does everything just right. Styling, range and size combine with competitive whole-life costs and a strong aftersales proposition. An outstanding car.”

This success was matched by the Enyaq, which claimed victory in the Mid-size SUV category. Like the Elroq, it triumphed over both electric and conventional competitors.

Briers added: “The Enyaq has the range and specification to satisfy everyone—from entry-level models to sporty versions, with both two- and four-wheel drive options. Some fleets are even converting it into a van—it’s an all-round great car.”

Judges were particularly impressed by the Enyaq’s quality, comfort, and clever design. Having been shortlisted in the same category the previous year, recent updates to the range, along with eligibility for the Government’s Electric Car Grant on selected models, helped secure its win.

Both models have built strong momentum in the awards circuit, underlining Škoda’s increasing influence in the electric vehicle market. The Elroq has been especially successful, earning major titles including overall Car of the Year at the Auto Express New Car Awards, along with Mid-size SUV of the Year and Best Family Electric SUV at other leading industry events.

Meanwhile, the Enyaq continues to strengthen its reputation, most recently being named Best Used Electric Family SUV at the What Car? Electric Car Awards—further confirming its lasting appeal.
