Design

The CBR500R draws direct influence from the CBR Fireblade; sharper, more aggressive lines incorporate unique aerodynamic winglets and ‘angry’ dual LED headlights.

Aerodynamic Design The strong new bodywork of the Honda CBR500R is inspired by the racing DNA of its larger Fireblade sibling and directed by the design theme 'The Shape Of Speed'. Sharp edges from front to back convey the spirit of what defines a CBR. Winglets are used to direct airflow and the angles of the fairing. This aerodynamic package leads to a more linear steering feel with improved feedback and front tyre grip.
Upgraded Graphics The 24YM Honda CBR500R will be available in the following colour variants, with a graphical upgrade to keep it in step with the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade and the new CBR600RR: Grand Prix Red (Tri Colour) and Matt Gunpower Black Metallic

Lightweight Wheels The new CBR500R has been designed to give you optimum manoeuvrability at high speeds. The lightweight 17-inch cast aluminium wheels feature hollow cross-section Y-shaped spokes. The front tyre is a 120/70-ZR17 and the rear a 160/60-ZR17, giving you a great balance between good grip and light, neutral steering. Now you can explore any territory.

    Power

The CBR500R features a powerful twin-cylinder engine to give you unmatched power.

Twin-Cylinder Engine The 8-valve, liquid-cooled parallel twin-cylinder engine produces 35kW @ 8,600rpm – making it A2 licence compliant – with peak torque of 43Nm @ 6,500rpm. Revised camshafts and valve lift have increased low- and mid-range torque for faster acceleration, and new settings prioritise pick-up response at high engine speeds.
Fireblade DNA The internal triangle proportion of crankshaft, main shaft and countershaft are very similar to that of the CBR1000RR Fireblade, and much of the engine’s internal structure and engineering is taken directly from the four-cylinder engine.
A2 License Compliant Its A2 licence compliant, 8-valve, liquid-cooled parallel twin-cylinder engine produces 35kW @ 8,600rpm with peak torque of 43Nm @ 6,500rpm. Revised camshafts and valve lift, plus redesigned intake and exhaust - equal increased low and mid-range torque, for stronger acceleration. Also new, an assist/slipper clutch eases upshifts and manages rear wheel lock-up on hard down changes.

      Performance

You won’t ever have to choose between a bike with lightning-fast acceleration from a standing start and one that can take you on a thrilling chase through the slick six-speed gearbox at high rpm. The CBR500R gives you both. This is what freedom is all about.

Fast Steering The steel diamond-tube frame has a tuned rigidity balance to enhance feedback to the rider. The engine is close to the swingarm pivot point for fast steering and easy handling. Seat height is an easy-to-manage 785mm. You own the road. Get out and explore it.
Sufficient Feedback The 35mm diameter steel diamond-tube mainframe is light, sturdy, and unaltered. for 24YM, with a regulated degree of yield that provides sufficient feedback to the rider as road surfaces change. The design and placement of the engine mounts,  as well as the frame’s rigidity balance, keep vibration to as little as possible.
Adjustable Suspension The new CBR500R features adjustable suspension to match your journey. 41mm telescopic forks deliver a smooth and controlled ride. The Pro-Link Monoshock rear suspension features 5-stage pre-load adjustment and works through a rigid box-section swingarm. With this setup, anything is possible.

        Technology

Just like its larger CBR siblings, the Honda CB5500R features an Assist/Slipper Clutch that eases upshifts and prevents rear wheel lock-up on hard downshifts.

Information Display The new 5-inch full-color TFT panel - a first for a Honda motorcycle - uses optical bonding to boost visibility in intense sunshine. Glare is decreased and backlight transmittance is increased by sealing the space between the cover glass and TFT screen with resin. It has a choice of three display patterns: bar, circle, and simple, and it supports IOS/Android smartphone connectivity via Honda RoadSync.
LED Lighting The placement of the headlights and front turn signals gives the CBR500R a sporty, contemporary silhouette. The bike features full LED lighting, which optimises efficiency and creates less of a drain on the engine.
Emergency Stop Signal The CBR500R’s Emergency Stop Signal technology helps keep you safe if you ever need to hit the brakes unexpectedly. The system detects sudden braking and automatically activates the front and rear hazard lights, which flash to warn any nearby vehicles.
