Practicality

Close X

The Honda EM1 e: is incredibly practical for city living. With a lightweight and compact design, it is effortless to maneuver in traffic and easy to park. The removable battery allows for convenient charging at home or on the go, while the low maintenance electric motor keeps servicing costs low.

Highlights
Handling bumps and potholes City streets aren't always smooth, and the Honda EM1 e's ride quality changes with road conditions. The soft cushion and low 740mm seat height help soak up small bumps. This setup, along with the basic suspension, handles typical urban roads well.

The scooter's nimble character and light weight let you weave around obstacles instead of hitting them. You'll quickly learn to dodge potholes, tramlines and speedbumps with last-second moves. This quick handling makes up for the suspension's limits on rough surfaces.

The Honda EM1 e doesn't handle bigger bumps and road defects very well. Your legs and lower back become extra shock absorbers at the time the suspension bottoms out on large potholes and speedbumps. Some riders might find issues with the low deck height, which can scrape over medium-sized speed bumps.

The scooter delivers appropriate comfort levels for its purpose as budget-friendly urban transport. Daily commutes feel comfortable, and the quiet operation adds to the pleasant experience - no rattling parts or squeaking suspension.
Build quality and durability The EM1 e is built tough for city riding. Its design minimises parts that stick out and might break in a fall—a smart choice that new riders will appreciate. Light but durable plastic bodywork protects against occasional drops. The Honda Mobile Power Pack e: battery stands up well to different temperatures, humidity levels, impacts, and vibrations.
Battery replacement and recycling Honda partners with SNAM to recycle old batteries, showing their commitment to sustainability. Working batteries get a second chance in energy storage systems. Other batteries provide materials for new batteries and different products. This approach supports Honda's goal of "zero environmental footprint" and makes the EM1 e a worry-free choice throughout its life.

    Onboard

    Close X

Onboard the EM1 e:, riders will enjoy a comfortable and convenient experience. The front inner pocket provides storage for essentials like a drinks bottle, while the USB Type-A socket allows for charging devices on the go. The generous rear rack offers space for carrying gym kit or shopping, making everyday errands a breeze.

    Highlights
USB port and bottle holder The Honda EM1 e has smart features for modern riders. A USB Type-A charging port sits on the right side of the front fairing to keep your devices charged while riding. The left front fairing has an inner pocket that fits a standard 500ml water bottle. You'll always have refreshments within reach during your trips.
Display and lighting The instrument panel uses a simple LCD digital display that shows all important information clearly. The screen displays:

      Current speed

      Remaining battery percentage

      Selected riding mode

      Available range

This straightforward approach to instrumentation lines up with the Honda EM1 e's practical design. It gives you exactly what you need without extra complexity.

The scooter comes with full LED lighting throughout. LED headlights, taillight, and indicators look modern while offering better visibility and using less energy than traditional bulbs. You'll see clearly and stay visible after dark.
Underseat and optional top box Daily commuters need good storage space. The Honda EM1 e has 3.3L of storage under the seat that works for small personal items but won't fit a full-face helmet. The battery system takes up part of this space, which explains the limited capacity.

Honda solves this by adding a standard rear carrier that creates a flat platform. You can strap down gym bags or takeaway food easily. Riders who need more space can get an optional 35L top box. This box locks securely to the rear carrier and fits either a full-face helmet or a laptop with weekend essentials.

      Ride

      Close X

The Honda EM1 e puts practicality first when you get on its seat. This compact electric scooter shows what it does best on busy city streets - it gets you around town without any fuss.

      Highlights
Lightweight, Compact, and City-Ready The Honda EM1 e takes a practical approach to design and construction, unlike many electric vehicles that compromise utility for state-of-the-art features. This electric moped's physical features deliver optimal urban performance while upholding Honda's quality standards.
Frame and body materials The Honda EM1 e features a sturdy steel underbone frame that delivers strength and stability. This time-tested foundation helps the scooter handle impressively while keeping production costs down. Honda chose proven chassis technology instead of experimenting with exotic materials.

The wheels tell an interesting story, though the frame construction seems traditional. The front wheel uses cast aluminium for durability and precise handling. The rear wheel features a unique aluminium/steel composite design that cuts down the overall weight. This smart choice of materials shows how Honda balances performance and practicality.

The plastic bodywork wraps around the steel backbone frame to create a slim, compact profile. Of course, this design choice results in a light package weighing just 95kg with the battery installed. The compact dimensions of 1,860mm × 680mm × 1080mm (L×W×H) make it perfect to direct through busy streets and squeeze into tight spots.

The suspension uses 31mm telescopic forks up front and twin rear shock absorbers with double tube dampers. This standard setup works great for city riding and offers good comfort without getting too complex.
Seat height and ergonomics The Honda EM1 e's seat height of 740mm makes it available to riders of all sizes. The low saddle position combines with the step-through design and flat floor to create a confident riding position that new riders will love.

The comfortable ergonomics work great for typical city trips. The handlebars sit close to the rider, creating a natural position that helps during stop-start city riding. The narrow profile between your legs makes the bike easy to control and manoeuvre.

The 135mm ground clearance lets you handle urban obstacles easily without making the bike too tall. A 1,300mm wheelbase strikes the right balance between stability and agility. The EM1 e shines in urban environments with its tight 1.9m turning radius that makes U-turns a breeze.

Key measurements that define the Honda EM1 e:

        Weight: 95kg (including 10.3kg battery)

        Dimensions: 1,860mm × 680mm × 1080mm (L×W×H)

        Seat height: 740mm

        Ground clearance: 135mm

        Wheelbase: 1,300mm

        Running Costs

        Close X

The Honda EM1 e: offers significant cost savings compared to cars or public transport. With no fuel costs, low maintenance requirements, and efficient electric power, the EM1 e: is a cost-effective and environmentally friendly transportation option for urban commuters.

        Highlights
Charging time and method The charging system stays separate from the EM1 e. You can plug the charger into any home outlet (single-phase AC100-240V 50/60Hz), and it puts out up to 270W.

A dead battery takes about 6 hours to fully charge. Most riders will charge from 25% to 75%, which takes just 160 minutes (2.7 hours). This makes it easy to top up while you're at work or sleeping.

The charger stays cool with its built-in fan. Four LED lights show you how the charging's going, so you can check progress quickly.

Real riders get about 41.3km (25.7 miles) in normal mode, or 48.0km (29.8 miles) using ECON mode. Official WMTC Class 1 tests show a more conservative 30km range. This gives you about an hour of city riding per charge - enough for most daily commutes.

The scooter uses 47 Wh/km, making it a green choice for city transport.
Battery: 50.3V, 10.3kg removable pack The scooter runs on Honda's own Mobile Power Pack e: - a lithium-ion battery you can take out. This power pack runs at 50.3V with either 26.1Ah or 29.4Ah capacity based on different sources.

The battery weighs 10.3kg (23 lb), about 10% of the scooter's 95kg total weight. You won't struggle to carry it thanks to its lightweight design and handy grip for easy removal.

The battery fits perfectly under the seat at 298mm × 177.3mm × 156.3mm. Taking the battery inside to charge makes life easier if you don't have charging spots near your parking space.

Honda built this battery to last through more than 2,500 charging cycles. That could mean about 60,000 miles before you see much drop in performance. This durability shows Honda's quality standards, even in their first electric bike for Europe.
Motor: 2.3 bhp brushless hub motor Honda's EM1 e uses a smart in-wheel setup with a three-phase brushless motor right in the rear wheel hub. The motor packs a punch with 1.7kW (2.3 bhp) peak power at 540 RPM and delivers 90 Nm of torque at just 25 RPM. The continuous power output is nowhere near as high though, sitting at 0.58kW (0.78 hp).

The ECON mode limits the motor's peak power to 0.86kW (1.15 hp), which helps you squeeze out more range between charges. This smart feature lets you go further when you need to.

You can zip around at up to 45 km/h (28 mph) - plenty fast for city streets where speed limits rarely go above 30 mph. The scooter handles 10° inclines with a 75kg rider, so city hills won't be a problem.

The motor's refinement really stands out. Honda's engineering shows through with zero noise or vibration. Riders get a peaceful experience that regular gas scooters just can't match.
