GWR Kia ANNOUNCED AS NEW KIA PBV CENTRE PARTNER

GWR Kia has extended its successful partnership with Kia UK with a new agreement to introduce a brand-new PBV Centre at its site in Brentford, West London.

PBV Centres will exclusively provide commercial vehicle customers with a consistent and focused service across sales and after sales for Kia PBVs, starting with PV5.

The new Kia PBV Centre will be one of over 60 PBV Centres forming a new sales and support network, which is being built from the ground up to meet the needs of commercial vehicle operators and drivers. All sales and after sales services for Kia PBVs will take place at these dedicated Kia PBV Centres.

The new GWR Kia PBV Centre is planned to be fully operational by late 2025 – coinciding with the first UK customer deliveries of the Kia PV5 – and will be located on the first floor of the existing GWR Kia building.

GWR Kia was selected by Kia for its expertise and ability to best serve commercial vehicle customers having already served as a Kia Business Specialist Dealership working with fleets and local businesses since it opened in 2016.

Leading up to the new GWR Kia PBV Centre opening later this year, the team is currently busy preparing the brand-new facility, undergoing PBV training, and setting up systems. This includes a sales area with display units, a service reception, dedicated workshop with high-capacity vehicle ramps, specialist Kia equipment and tools.

Ready to receive PBV customer enquiries now, the new PBV Centre also supports local employment, with a dedicated team of friendly staff who are employed to cover sales, technician and service advisor roles. Customers should contact pbv@gwrkia.com if they wish to find out more.

Kia’s first dedicated fully electric commercial vehicle, the PV5, will exclusively be available from PBV Centres. This includes the Passenger version. The PV5 began sales on 1 May 2025 during its UK debut at the CV Show, when UK pricing and specifications were first announced.

Matthew Scott, Head of Business for GWR Kia, said: “Kia is one of the best brands in the business, who we are already proud to represent, so it’s very exciting for us to become a founding member of the brand-new PBV Centre network and deliver Kia commercial vehicles to customers. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to support local businesses with a brand-new commercial offering from a company that’s renowned for its quality, reliability and electric expertise. We are proud to support our local community and the new PBV Centre will help create new local jobs, which will offer the vital support and reassurance needed for local business customers looking to get into a state-of-the art commercial vehicle. As with its range of cars, Kia includes an industry-leading 7-year/100,000-mile warranty as standard with every Kia PBV commercial vehicle. We are thrilled to be a part of Kia's new PBV network and business, and we very much look forward to introducing the Korean brand to our local commercial audience.”

Simon Hetherington, Commercial Director at Kia UK, commented: “We are delighted to partner with GWR Kia to lead our brand-new PBV commercial vehicle strategy. The new network of PBV Centres ensures we will offer the vital support that commercial vehicle customers need. The new Kia PBV Centre at Brentford, West London covers everything from sales to after sales and servicing in the region and will be instrumental in our ambition to hit the ground running when first customer deliveries of the exciting PV5 arrive in the UK later this year.”

The Kia PV5

The PV5 Cargo establishes new benchmarks for electric vans and in the small van market segment, with leading specifications including space, payload, charging and range, each made possible by the use of the dedicated E-GMP.S platform. This is a purpose-built platform designed and ready for commercial work across delivery, utilities, and ride hailing.

PV5 Cargo is available in two body lengths and, uniquely to its segment, will be available with a high roof option on the longer body, giving it a best-in-class cargo volume of up to 5.17m3 for the L2/H2 (4.4m3 L2/H1). PV5 Cargo is big on practicality and convenience, benefiting from thoughtful and useful details including the lowest rear step height in its class at just 419mm and a payload of up to 790kg on the L2/H1.

A choice of two battery options – standard range 51.5kWh or long range 71.2kWh – offer up to 181 miles* or up to 247 miles* respectively. Thanks to the efficiency of its dedicated electric platform, reduction of driving range while transporting a payload is also kept to a minimum.

With 150kW DC and 11kW AC charging built-in as standard across all PV5 variants, minimum downtime while recharging is ensured. Rapid charging from 10-to-80% takes less than 30 minutes with either battery option.

The PV5 Cargo in L2/H1 configuration will be priced from £27,645 (+VAT) for the entry grade ‘Essential’ with standard range battery or £30,145 (+VAT) with long range battery option. The PV5 Cargo will further qualify for the current OZEV (Office for Zero Emission Vehicles) Plug-in Van grant reducing the price by £5,000. This makes it one of the best value and most complete electric vans available.

In addition, the PV5 Passenger variant will be priced from £32,995 (OTR). This people carrying version of PV5 will eventually be available in both 5- and 7-seat configurations (5-seats only from launch), with a lifting tailgate, and will offer a range of up to 249 miles* with the long-range battery.

At launch, PV5 Cargo, Crew, Chassis Cab and Passenger will be available in L2/H1 form. In 2026, the PV5 Cargo range will be further expanded with a smaller L1/H1 or larger L2/H2 variant. Furthermore, a dedicated WAV (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle) has been developed as an in-factory conversion, providing step-free access via a ramp and side door. More information on the PV5 WAV will follow in due course.

Every Kia PBV product will come with an industry-leading seven-year/100,000-mile warranty as standard. In addition, the PV5 offers an impressive servicing interval of every two years/20,000 miles, delivering further peace of mind.

Orders for the PV5 Cargo and Passenger are now open, with first UK customer deliveries expected in Q4 2025.

Over 50 years of Kia commercial vehicles

Kia PBVs are a new chapter for the brand in the UK. Although new in the UK, Kia enjoys a long history of serving the commercial vehicle market.

Kia has grown from a small bicycle manufacturer in 1944 to today being a global mobility solutions provider and one of the world’s most recognised and respected brands.

Kia’s commercial vehicle roots date back to 1962 when it first launched the K-360 three-wheeled pickup truck. Successive years saw Kia expand its commercial vehicle range, with the K-600 in 1969, then the Brisa pickup in 1974, followed by a Brisa car in 1976. The latter proved enormously popular with taxi fleets. In 1980, Kia introduced the Bongo pickup, a nameplate that has been kept for four generations and is still sold in various global markets today, including as a fully electric model launched in 2020. In addition to cars and pickups, Kia manufacturers coaches, buses, HGVs, and a range of military vehicles.

PBVs build on Kia's expertise and leverage its electric experience gained from over a decade producing electric cars, most recently including the EV3, EV6 and EV9.
