  • The most extensive Sportage lineup ever

Kia UK has released price and specifications for the all-new Sportage ahead of its debut in stores in early 2022. The introduction of the new automobile heralds the introduction of the most diverse selection of powertrains ever, with consumers able to select between mild hybrid, hybrid, petrol, and diesel options. Plug-in hybrid variations will be added to the lineup near the end of Q1 2022, with all other revisions accessible from the start. The new model's UK order books open on December 15th.

The all-new Sportage features a completely new design identity that provides the new car a strong on-road appearance. A specific design, particularly for Europe, demonstrates the priority Kia invests on the fifth generation Sportage. The medium SUV is not just Kia's best-selling vehicle in the UK, but also in Europe and around the world. The design is sleek yet muscular, and it is combined with a cutting-edge premium interior that includes a curvaceous integrated display with the latest in connectivity technology, including Kia Connect.

The newest Sportage has been created in Europe for European buyers employing a new architecture. This is the first time in the car's 28-year history that a different model has been engineered especially for Europe. The redesigned car's packaging provides more internal room while preserving the relatively modest dimensions that make it appropriate for European roads. Boot capacity, head- and legroom, and rear seat legroom are all significantly expanded over the previous generation car, with best-in-class legroom for rear seat occupants.

They put the driver in the centre of the action with two high-definition 12.3-inch screens available on '3' models and above. The 2017 Sportage is completely linked, with over-the-air software and map updates, and the Kia Connect smartphone app – available on '3' and 'GT-Line' grades and higher – enabling owners to interact with their car without having to be in it.

For the first time, the lineup features a fresh new HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) with a 1.6-litre T-GDi (Turbocharged-Gasoline Direct injection) engine producing 226bhp. This will be joined by a Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) alternative with 261bhp at the end of Q1 2022 — again another first for Sportage.

A selection of 1.6-litre internal combustion engines completes the lineup, with both petrol and diesel power available, highlighting the fact that this Sportage model is the most comprehensive ever. The 2017 Sportage is available with and without Kia's 48-volt mild hybrid technology, as well as a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission. All HEV and PHEV models come with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Six new Sportage variants are available, each with a high level of equipment.

The all-new Sportage's UK lineup follows the same uncomplicated grade structure that characterises every Kia model sold in the UK.

The '2' model is the first in the lineup, with a comprehensive specification and a choice of two powertrains. The first is the 1.6-litre T-GDi petrol engine with two-wheel drive, which produces 148bhp and is priced from £26,745.
