MG Motor UK has marked a major milestone with the sale of its 100,000th electric vehicle in the UK, achieved on 31 October. The achievement reinforces MG’s rapid rise as one of the country’s most influential and accessible EV brands.
Originally famed for its quintessential British sportscars, MG celebrated its 100th anniversary at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed—honouring a legacy of design, engineering and driving enjoyment. Today, that century-long heritage fuels MG’s electric transformation, bringing fun, affordable and practical zero-emission vehicles to UK roads.
Guy Pigounakis, Commercial Director of MG Motor UK, described the achievement as “a reflection of the trust our customers place in us,” adding that MG remains committed to offering more choice, value and advanced technology as the UK progresses toward Net Zero.
Despite its modern electric identity, MG continues to embrace the adventurous spirit that defined the brand’s early years. That means bold design choices like the Volcano Orange MG4 EV, performance variants such as the 435PS MG4 XPOWER, and the Cyberster’s Union Jack–inspired arrow-shaped tail lights—all reminders that electrification can still be expressive and fun.
Expanding the EV Line-Up
MG launched its electric journey in 2019 with the MG ZS EV, a family-friendly SUV with a competitive £24,995 starting price that helped make EV ownership more accessible. Successive models followed, including the award-winning MG4 EV hatchback and the MG5 EV estate, both praised for practicality and value.
In 2023, MG unveiled the UK’s first two-seat electric convertible, the Cyberster—a dramatic, London-designed roadster that delivers supercar-rivaling acceleration (0–62mph in as little as 3.2 seconds). The Cyberster reconnected MG with its sporting heritage while proving that electric cars can offer both character and genuine driving excitement.
Concept models such as the Cyberster Black and Cyber X further demonstrate MG’s ambition to create a new generation of expressive, futuristic EVs that push boundaries in design and innovation.
MG now offers one of the UK’s strongest and most diverse electric line-ups. Key models include:
Alongside its EVs, MG offers efficient hybrid and petrol options. Notably, the MG ZS Hybrid+ was the UK’s best-selling hybrid during the first half of 2025, appealing to both business users and private buyers seeking low running costs without going fully electric.
With 100,000 EVs sold, a fast-growing product range and a commitment to accessible electrification, MG is playing a pivotal role in shaping the UK’s electric mobility landscape. As the brand continues to innovate—with expressive design, performance-focused models and family-friendly EVs—MG is proving that the future of driving can be sustainable, exciting and unmistakably true to its spirited heritage.
