Honda CR-V: Achieving Top Safety Ratings in Euro NCAP Tests

The Honda CR-V has once again proven its commitment to safety by achieving the maximum five-star rating in the latest Euro NCAP safety tests. This achievement highlights Honda's dedication to ensuring the safety of its vehicles and its goal of zero road fatalities involving its products by 2050.

Enhanced Safety Technologies for All-Round Protection

The latest CR-V models feature advanced safety technologies, including the enhanced Honda SENSING and SENSING 360 systems. These systems incorporate sonar sensors and a front wide-view camera, providing a comprehensive 360° view around the vehicle. By utilising object recognition and detection capabilities, the CR-V can identify road lines, verges, motorcycles, cyclists, and other vehicles, enhancing overall safety.

One notable feature of the Honda SENSING 360 system is the improved Front Cross Traffic Warning. This feature detects vehicles to the left, right, and in front of the car, alerting the driver through audible, visual, and tactile alerts if approaching with excessive speed. In the event that the driver fails to respond, the Collision Mitigation Braking System is triggered, applying light brake pressure to reduce the likelihood or severity of a frontal impact. If a collision is imminent, the system will automatically brake forcefully.

Strengthened Chassis and Body for Enhanced Protection

In addition to advanced safety technologies, the CR-V's chassis and body have been reinforced to enhance protection in the event of a collision. These structural improvements are aimed at meeting stringent Euro NCAP crash impact safety standards for Adult Occupant Protection.

The CR-V's body incorporates multiple load paths within the side frame and upper chassis member, efficiently absorbing collision energy away from occupants. The A-pillar has also been designed and reinforced to suppress deformation of the passenger cell, further enhancing safety.

To conform to new crash tests, such as the Mobile Progressive Deformable Barrier (MPDB), Advanced European Mobile Deformable Barrier, and 32km/h pole crash tests, the CR-V chassis now includes additional floor cross members. These additions minimize floor deformation in the event of side collisions, providing improved protection.

Comprehensive Airbag System for Enhanced Occupant Safety

The safety of all occupants is a top priority for Honda, and the CR-V reflects this commitment with its comprehensive airbag system. All trim variants of the CR-V come equipped with a total of 11 airbags as standard.

Knee airbags for both front occupants help reduce injury during front impacts, while side airbags protect both front and rear seat passengers. The CR-V also features a front center airbag, preventing collisions between the driver and front passenger during a side impact.

Thanks to integrated ISOFIX mounting points that conform to the latest European i-Size standards, the CR-V also scored well in the Child Occupant Protection category. This level of protection extends to all occupants, ensuring the safety of everyone inside the vehicle.

Honda CR-V e:HEV and e:PHEV Models: Leading the Way in Safety

The all-new Honda CR-V e:HEV and e:PHEV models with SENSING 360 have garnered the maximum five-star rating in Euro NCAP safety tests. These electrified models not only offer advanced safety technologies but also contribute to Honda's commitment to achieving carbon neutrality across all products and corporate activities by 2050.
