Honda Super-N Electric City Car: Price, Range, BOOST Mode and UK Launch Details
Honda has introduced the Super-N, a compact electric vehicle (EV) created to transform everyday mobility with an exciting and uplifting driving experience. Designed to embody Honda’s commitment to the “joy of driving”, the small EV combines dynamic performance, innovative driving technology and distinctive styling. Following the company’s Man-Maximum, Machine-Minimum (M/M) development approach, the vehicle prioritises driver and passenger needs while maintaining practicality and efficiency.
With entertaining handling, eye-catching design and a strong sense of fun, the Super-N aims to redefine expectations for a small EV. Built on the lightweight platform of Honda’s advanced N Series ‘Kei’ car range sold in Japan, it also draws inspiration from the legendary City Turbo II, influencing both performance ambitions and styling direction.
The Honda Super-N will be available in the UK from July, with a starting price of under £20,000, positioning it as an accessible option within the affordable EV segment. This pricing supports Honda’s goal of expanding electric mobility to a broader audience.
Michael Doyle, Head of Automobile, Honda UK, emphasised that the Super-N brings EV performance and driving excitement to new customers. He highlighted its iconic looks, UK-focused driving dynamics and unique features such as BOOST Mode, alongside practicality, efficiency and an all-electric range suited to urban driving and daily commuting.
A key feature of the Super-N is BOOST Mode, which increases the power output of its compact e-Axle from 47kW to 70kW, unlocking stronger performance. As one of the lightest EVs in Europe, the vehicle’s low weight contributes to engaging driving dynamics and responsiveness.
The driving experience is further enhanced by a simulated seven-speed transmission and Active Sound Control, which generates an engaging engine note. These features combine the instant torque of an electric car with the emotional connection associated with traditional combustion engines.
The Super-N features bold styling inspired by the 1980s City Turbo II, including a wide stance, larger bumpers and distinctive aero ducts that signal dynamic performance. Honda engineers aimed to create a vehicle that delivers the Japanese sensations of ‘yukai’ (pleasing), ‘meikai’ (intuitive) and ‘tsukai’ (thrilling), reinforcing its focus on driving enjoyment.
Inside, the cabin includes enhanced supportive seats, distinctive blue interior highlights and ambient lighting. The lighting shifts from cool blue to purple when BOOST Mode is activated, enhancing the sporty feel.
Customisation and Personalisation Options
The Honda Super-N will be offered with a wide range of exterior colours and customisation options, allowing buyers to personalise their compact EV. Available choices include a two-tone specification with a contrasting gloss black roof, rear spoiler, and optional body graphics, reinforcing the car’s playful and expressive character.
Overall, the Honda Super-N combines affordable pricing, compact EV practicality, BOOST Mode performance, and iconic styling, positioning it as a distinctive option for drivers seeking fun and efficient urban electric mobility.
